Retired soccer star Ali Krieger has been at the center of a media storm following her ex-wife Ashlyn Harris' address of their marriage demise on a recent podcast. Krieger, who initially chose not to make a formal statement, has now opened up about the situation in a heartfelt post on Instagram.

Overwhelming Support and Dealing with Distortion

Krieger expressed her gratitude for the "outpouring of love and support" she received last year. However, she also had to confront a wave of dishonesty and misinformation regarding her marriage and personal life. She emphasized that while she's not yet ready to make a formal statement to the public, she feels compelled to address the current situation to prevent further distortion of the truth.

Krieger's priority remains the protection and well-being of her children, Sloane and Ocean, whom she shares with Harris. In this vulnerable time, she humbly asks for privacy and understanding from all involved as she grapples with the profound changes in her personal life.

Her brother Kyle Krieger, who previously said his sister was "blindsided" by the split, commented on the post, writing, "love you punkin. even though you’ve said very little — everyone knows the truth."

Ashlyn Harris' Perspective on the Marriage

On the Nov. 25 episode of the Naked Sports podcast, Harris opened up about the breakup. She said she became "very, very good at disassociating" toward the end of her marriage to Krieger.

Harris claimed she made several attempts to save the relationship, including suggesting they open their marriage. She said, "I started trying all these things, like, let’s do an open marriage." She also suggested that her relationship with Krieger struggled due to a lack of intimacy and lacking common interests after soccer.

"I think she loved the game so much and all she knew was how to sacrifice her life for the game," Harris said on the podcast. "Then when you add children, which is a whole different layer, I just felt like I wasn’t a priority."

Krieger's Post-Divorce Life

Shortly after her divorce from Krieger, Harris went public with her relationship with actress Sophia Bush. Bush later confirmed their relationship status in a conversation with Glamour's editor-in-chief, Samantha Barry, in April 2024. The actress said that while their relationship was pushed into the public eye "without my consent," she had done a lot of work to find peace.

Krieger, on the other hand, revealed on Nov. 28 that she's been dating Scottish soccer player Jen Beattie. She promised to "share more" when her "heart feels ready."
