In a recent interview with TotalRock's “Louder With Ore B” radio show, the guitarist Ben Wells of Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry shared his thoughts on the use of artificial intelligence (A.I.) in music. He emphasized that for his band, A.I. is not currently affecting their way of making new songs, but he also acknowledged the potential risks and uncertainties that come with this emerging technology.

Ben Wells' Perspective on A.I. in Music

When asked about the impact of A.I. on their music, Ben said, "Not us, because... Well, it's still early days. A.I. can be a cool thing when used correctly, just like social media. In the right hands, it can be fantastic. But used wrongly, it takes away some of the art." He continued, "It's strange to think that you can get a computer to write a song for you in a specific style. It shows how far technology has come. Who knows what it will be like in 20 years? There could be a time when it's scary for some in the industry. If A.I. mixes a record, it takes away the job of the mixer. We hope that doesn't happen. As long as people are writing music with pen and paper, that's the most important thing. And live music, nothing can replicate the energy of human beings on stage playing for each other."

The Band's Global Reach

Over the past two decades, Black Stone Cherry has made a significant impact on stages around the world. From arenas to festivals in Europe, North America, and other territories, their music has resonated with fans. They recently completed a tour in the U.S. with Clutch and Rival Sons, further solidifying their status in the rock music scene.

The Latest Album "Screamin' At The Sky"

Black Stone Cherry's latest album, “Screamin’ At The Sky”, was released in September 2023 via Mascot Records. It is available in various formats including white solid vinyl, a limited edition vinyl boxset, CD, and digitally. The lead single, “Out Of Pocket”, released earlier last year, became a crowd favorite on their U.K. arena shows. The album features all-new material written collaboratively during their tours. When it came time to record, the band decided to record at The Plaza Theater in Glasgow, Kentucky. This legendary 1020-seat venue built in 1934 has meticulous acoustics, allowing them to capture the essence of their music in a unique way.

The Band's Lineup and Touring

The Kentucky-based band consists of Chris Robertson (lead vocals/guitar), Ben Wells (guitar/backing vox), and John-Fred Young (drums/backing vox). They are joined for the first time on an album recording by Steve Jewell Jr. Fans are familiar with Steve as he has been touring with Black Stone Cherry since 2021. The band's chemistry and talent have been on full display during their tours, captivating audiences with their energetic performances.
