BMI's Songwriters Dominate the 2024 Billboard Music Awards

BMI takes great pride in its numerous affiliates who shone brightly at last week's Billboard Music Awards. The event held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on December 12 witnessed an extraordinary display of talent. Taylor Swift's remarkable achievement of receiving 10 awards made her the most-awarded artist in the show's history, etching her name in the annals of music. Alongside her, Zach Bryan bagged five awards, Morgan Wallen four, Elevation Worship three, and Fuerza Regida, SZA, Linkin Park, Chris Brown, and CeCe Winans each secured two awards. This was a night of celebration and recognition for the music industry.

ARTIST AWARDS

Taylor Swift emerged as the top artist, leaving an indelible mark with her exceptional talent. Morgan Wallen claimed the top male artist title, while Taylor Swift also dominated the female artist category. Fuerza Regida stood out as the top duo/group. Taylor Swift's dominance continued as she was named the top Billboard 200 Artist, top Hot 100 Artist, and top Hot 100 Songwriter. Her influence was felt across various aspects of the music scene. SZA shone as the top R&B Artist and top R&B Female Artist. Doja Cat made her mark as the top Rap Female Artist. Morgan Wallen also held the top country artist title, along with being the top country male artist. The Red Clay Strays were recognized as the top country duo/group, and Zach Bryan took the top country touring artist crown. Zach Bryan and Linkin Park each earned the top rock artist and top rock duo/group titles respectively. Karol G was named the top Latin female artist, and Fuerza Regida held the top Latin duo/group title. Luis Miguel was recognized as the top Latin touring artist. Elevation Worship was hailed as the top Christian artist, and CeCe Winans as the top gospel artist.

Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" claimed the top Billboard 200 Album title, solidifying her status as a musical powerhouse. Chris Brown's "11:11" stood out as the top R&B Album. Zach Bryan's self-titled album "Zach Bryan" made its mark in the country album category. Sleep Token's "Take Me Back to Eden" was recognized as the top hard rock album. Elevation Worship's "Can You Imagine?" took the top Christian album award, and Maverick City Music, Chandler Moore & Naomi Raine's "The Maverick Way Complete: Complete Vol 02" was named the top gospel album.

These albums represent the creative excellence and innovation within BMI's affiliated artists and their respective genres.

SONG AWARDS

Teddy Swims' "Lose Control" topped the Hot 100 Song and Top Radio Song categories, demonstrating its widespread popularity. Zach Bryan feat. Kacey Musgraves' "I Remember Everything" was the top streaming song and also earned a spot in the top rock song category. Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" shone as the top Billboard Global 200 Song and top Billboard Global (Excl. U.S.) Song. Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" was the top rap song, while Falling In Reverse feat. Jelly Roll's "All My Life" was the top hard rock song. FloyyMenor & Cris MJ's "Gata Only" was the top Latin song. Elevation Worship feat. Brandon Lake, Chris Brown & Chandler Moore's "Praise" was the top Christian song, and CeCe Winans' "That's My King" was the top gospel song.
