The TAKE3 trio, comprising violinist Lindsay Deutsch, cellist Georgia Bourderionnet, and pianist Kyoka Minami, recently visited local schools, delivering energetic and captivating performances that shattered the preconceptions of their high school audiences. These classically-trained musicians showcased their exceptional talents, blending classical masterpieces with popular hits and movie scores, creating a truly mesmerizing experience for all in attendance.

Defying Expectations, Captivating Audiences

Energetic Performances Captivate Skeptical Crowds

As the TAKE3 trio took the stage, their intense energy and enthusiasm immediately captivated the initially skeptical high school students. Violinist Lindsay Deutsch, who had previously toured the world with renowned artist Yanni, roamed the auditorium, serenading students while leaping around with joy, her virtuosic playing captivating the audience. Meanwhile, her compatriots, cellist Georgia Bourderionnet and pianist Kyoka Minami, remained on stage, masterfully playing their instruments and contributing to the overall electrifying performance.

Expanding Repertoire, Embracing Diverse Genres

The TAKE3 trio confessed that they had been forced to practice classical music throughout their youth, but now relished the opportunity to expand their repertoire and include songs by pop stars, as well as themes from TV shows and movies. Cellist Georgia Bourderionnet, who grew up in the music-rich city of New Orleans, where her father was a jazz saxophonist with a passion for classical music, had studied at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in New York City before embarking on this exciting tour. Pianist Kyoka Minami, who had arrived in the United States just three years ago, had never played anything other than classical music until joining TAKE3, but now expressed her immense enjoyment in exploring this new musical landscape.

Captivating Performances Inspire and Delight

The set list presented by TAKE3 to the high school students was a captivating blend of popular hits, classical masterpieces, and movie scores. The highlight of the performance was an incredible combination of the bluegrass classic "Orange Blossom Special," Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee," and Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," played simultaneously. This virtuosic feat had the audience tapping their feet and erupting in thunderous applause, as the trio's exceptional talent and showmanship left a lasting impression on the assembled crowd.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Musicians

During a brief question-and-answer session, violinist Lindsay Deutsch acknowledged that pursuing a career in music is not an easy path, but expressed pride in the fact that the trio is now working 300 days a year and has traveled to every continent, learning about diverse cultures and meeting people from all walks of life. The TAKE3 trio's performance not only entertained the high school students but also expanded their horizons and inspired them, fulfilling the goal of the Darke County Center for the Arts' Arts In Education program.
