Announcement of Homeporting in Port Canaveral

Last August, the cruise line made the exciting announcement of homeporting a ship in Port Canaveral. This decision was aimed at reaching a wider audience of both in-state and out-of-state travelers. By offering more convenient access to the Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises is committed to elevating the holiday experience for its guests.

President Laura Hodges Bethge stated, "At Celebrity we are continually striving to elevate our guests’ holiday experience from start to finish, and are delighted to offer even more ways to relax, unwind and explore the Caribbean." The addition of Port Canaveral truly offers guests the ultimate flexibility for their perfect Caribbean getaway.

Joining Other Cruise Lines at the Port

Celebrity is not alone at Port Canaveral. Six other cruise lines, including Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and the recent addition of Princess Cruises, already offer regular sailings from this bustling port. This creates a vibrant cruise scene with a plethora of options for travelers.

Caribbean Princess was just moved to the Florida port last week, adding to the excitement and variety. With multiple cruise lines operating from the same location, passengers have a wide range of choices to suit their preferences.

Transatlantic Cruise and Debut Sailing

After a 12-day transatlantic cruise from Portugal, the 121,878 gross ton Celebrity Equinox has finally arrived in Florida. It will begin its sailings out of Port Canaveral with a 4-day sailing to Bimini and Nassau in The Bahamas. This debut sailing marks the start of an exciting journey for the ship and its passengers.

Following this initial voyage, Celebrity Equinox will offer 7-day sailings to the Caribbean and Bahamas, visiting ports such as Honduras, Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Key West, and other popular destinations. With more than 15 ports of call included, passengers have the opportunity to explore a variety of tropical paradises.

Homeporting through 2025 and Future Assignments

The Celebrity Equinox will call Port Canaveral home through April of 2025. After this period, the vessel will be assigned to new destinations. In May of 2025, it is scheduled to offer a transatlantic cruise to Barcelona, and then it will remain in the Mediterranean until December of 2025. From there, it will begin offering sailings to Antarctica from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This diverse itinerary showcases the versatility of the Celebrity Equinox and allows passengers to experience different parts of the world. Whether it's the Caribbean sun or the icy beauty of Antarctica, there's something for everyone.

The Popularity of Solstice-class Ships

Solstice-class ships have been a huge hit with Celebrity cruisers. Even after the more modern Edge-class ships were built, many passengers still have a soft spot for the classic Solstice-class vessels. The Celebrity Equinox, being the second of five Solstice-class vessels, holds a special place in the hearts of many.

Last renovated in 2019, the ship continues to offer a memorable cruising experience. While there are reports of the ship heading to dry dock in April of 2025 after a season in the Caribbean, nothing has been officially confirmed yet. This adds an element of anticipation for future voyages.
