A Chinese Crested Dog Muppet Wins 'Ugliest Dog' Title with Unique Look
2024-12-13
Move over, Peggy! A new canine star has emerged, captivating the nation with its unique charm. Meet Muppet, a Chinese crested dog from Peterborough, who has taken the title of Britain's "ugliest dog." This remarkable pooch has a tongue that constantly hangs out of the side of its mouth and an intriguing hairstyle that sets it apart from the rest.

Unveiling the Beauty within the "Ugly" Dog

Section 1: Muppet's Distinctive Features

Muppet's appearance is truly one-of-a-kind. Its permanently hanging tongue adds to its charm, making it a sight to behold. The unique hairstyle only enhances its individuality. It's as if nature itself has crafted this dog with a purpose, to stand out in a crowd. This 12-year-old dog also has several missing teeth, which only add to its character. It's a sight that is both endearing and unforgettable.

Muppet's owner, Bev Nicholson, describes her pooch as a "wonky little rescue dog." But despite its unconventional looks, Muppet is a true gem. It has an inner beauty that shines through, proving that there is more to a dog than just its appearance.

Section 2: Muppet's Journey to the Title

In a competition organized by photography company Parrot Print, Muppet beat out seven other dogs to claim the title of Britain's "ugliest dog." The competition was aired live on ITV's This Morning show, and Muppet's win was a surprise to many.

"We didn't think we would find another dog like last year's winner, Peggy," said Matt Dahan, head judge and founder of the competition. "But Muppet manages to be both cute and ugly all at the same time, and we think he has the same star quality." Muppet's win is a testament to its unique charm and undeniable appeal.

Section 3: Muppet's Aftermath

After winning the title, Muppet received a pampering session at a luxury doggie spa. This included a mud bath, thalassotherapy (a therapeutic practice that involves being bathed in seawater), and a spray of fragrance. The experience was a treat for Muppet, and it showed in its happy demeanor.

"Muppet loved his mud bath, and apart from a naughty poop at the photography studio, he behaved perfectly, and the photos look fabulous," recalls Nicholson. "All in all, it's been a great experience." Muppet's newfound fame has also brought him a lot of attention, with people often taking selfies with him and sticking out their tongues.

Section 4: The Ugly Gene in Muppet's Bloodline

Muppet isn't the first of his pedigree to take home the title. His brother Mugly won an "ugliest dog" title in 2012, suggesting that the ugly gene may run strong in his bloodline. But this doesn't take away from Muppet's individuality or charm.

"There are ugly humans, aren't there? The difference is Muppet has inner beauty. He's not just a pink dog with a comb over," Nicholson said. Muppet's story is a reminder that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and that we should never judge a book by its cover.
