Colorado Newlyweds Miraculously Survive Rollover Crash Days After Wedding
2025-01-11

A newly married couple from Colorado narrowly escaped a life-threatening car accident just two days after their wedding, as reported by multiple news outlets and a GoFundMe page set up by family friends. Zoe and Camron Thomas, both students at the University of Northern Colorado, were traveling to visit relatives when their vehicle encountered icy conditions on Interstate 70 near Goodland, Kansas. The couple's harrowing ordeal left them with significant injuries but also highlighted the resilience and support of their community.

The newlyweds had barely begun their journey when disaster struck. Around mid-morning, while driving through Kansas, their car skidded on black ice, causing it to spin out of control and roll over one and a half times before coming to a stop in the median. In a frightening twist, their vehicle was then struck by a semi-truck, which pushed it back into the median. Zoe recounted the terrifying moment when she found Camron unconscious, his seat broken and his head hanging limply. Initially fearing the worst, Zoe was relieved to discover that Camron was still breathing, though he sustained serious injuries.

The extent of the damage became apparent shortly after the crash. Zoe suffered a concussion, a pelvic fracture, and numerous cuts and bruises, while Camron endured fractures in his lower vertebrae and neck, along with a severe concussion. Despite these challenges, both have shown remarkable progress. Zoe has been discharged from the hospital, while Camron continues his recovery at a facility in Denver. The couple's personal belongings, including all their wedding gifts, were destroyed in the crash, adding to their emotional and financial burden.

The community has rallied around the young couple, establishing a GoFundMe campaign to help cover immediate needs such as replacing essential items like phones and eyeglasses, as well as addressing future expenses related to medical bills and lost income during recovery. Zoe expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they've received, noting that the same people who celebrated their wedding are now offering comfort in this difficult time. She remains hopeful about rebuilding their life together and looks forward to making a home with Camron once they fully recover.
