Community Celebrations Through Music and Culture
2025-03-17

A new initiative is set to bring people together, celebrating local talent and fostering community spirit. The Taste of Music in Communities series, organized by Taste of 4th, Inc., will take place over five Sundays at various locations across the city. This unique event aims to highlight the vibrant energy of local vendors and musicians, offering an opportunity for residents to engage with their community through live jazz performances and cultural experiences.

Each gathering will provide a lively atmosphere with food trucks, merchandise stands, and designated areas for communal celebration. These events are open to all and scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on specific dates throughout the year. Starting at Arthur Shores Park in April, the series will continue at notable landmarks such as Avondale Park, Kelly Ingram Park, Pratt City Park, and conclude at Arlington Historic House & Gardens in August. These venues serve as platforms where creativity meets community engagement.

This initiative builds upon the legacy of the Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival, which has long celebrated African American culture and the rich history of jazz music. By expanding its reach into neighborhoods, this program strengthens the connection between art and everyday life. Looking ahead, plans include returning to the historic 4th Avenue Black Business District for another grand festival in 2025, continuing to inspire unity and pride among participants.
