2024-12-09
In Danville, Kentucky, a unique movie project titled "Home-less for the Holidays" has taken center stage. This film stars former WWE superstar Al Snow and is the brainchild of Fort Knox native Whit Whitman's production company, Little Monsters Entertainment, Inc. The story revolves around a group of homeless people who discover the body of the richest man in Danville. Instead of the expected tragic turn, they decide to dress up and spend Christmas Eve in his mansion. Intriguingly, it turns out the man wasn't actually dead.
Whitman's Journey in Filmmaking
Whitman embarked on his movie scriptwriting journey 11 years ago. Since then, he has produced an impressive eight movies, with three of them being filmed right here in Danville. When asked about the reason for shooting movies in Kentucky, Whitman explains that the state has favorable tax incentive laws. These laws assist him in funding his projects, especially smaller budget movies up to $1.5 million.Whitman's true passion for filmmaking stems from his dedication to teaching others. Many of the crew members and actors in his movies are local students eager to explore the film industry. Three years ago, Whitman almost gave up on storytelling. However, it was through mentoring these young talents that he found his purpose again. "I thought I was getting out of it and then these kids said no will you teach us about this? And so the universe gave storytelling back to me."Whitman's Vision for the Future
Whitman has big plans for the future. He wants to open a technical school to teach young adults the essential skills of writing, producing, editing, and acting. He believes that filmmaking should be accessible to everyone, not just those in Hollywood. "I would like to take it out of Hollywood's hands and make a blue collar, small, version that anyone could do. And that’s just gonna require someone like me to teach young kids a system that doesn’t cost a lot of money."Another movie is set to be released in January, and several others are in the pipeline. "Home-less for the Holidays" is currently streaming on Amazon Prime and the Roku Channel, and it will be available on Tubi on December 12.Anyone interested in getting involved with Little Monsters Entertainment can find their website here. This project not only showcases the talent of Whitman and his team but also highlights the potential of Kentucky as a film production hub.
