Decatur's Annual West Ponce Music Stroll: A Day of Musical Delight
2024-11-18
On Saturday, Nov. 16, Decatur, GA came alive with the annual West Ponce Music Stroll. This event showcased a wonderful array of free live music from the patios and parking lots of West Ponce businesses. Alongside the music, there was a Makers Market, chalk art, and a host of family-friendly activities that engaged and entertained the community.

Rescheduled Due to Weather

The Stroll, which was originally scheduled for September, had to be rescheduled due to unfavorable weather conditions. This only added to the excitement when it finally took place on the 16th, with people eager to enjoy the festivities.

Music on the Streets

Michael K took the stage at Mellow Mushroom, filling the air with his captivating tunes. The Morgan Rowe Band performed at The Marlay House, getting the crowd dancing. Local band Maxwell Street, with Sam Stewart as the singer and owner of Decatur Screen Print, sold their wares at the Makers Market while adding to the musical ambiance. The teen trio cover band Tripp’n, consisting of Amelia Williams, Tripp Wilkinson, and Bennett Reed, performed at Farm Burger, showcasing their talent. Each musical performance was a unique experience, adding to the overall charm of the event.

Chalk Art and Community Spirit

Families came together to participate in the sidewalk chalk art. Mila, along with her mom Jill and friend Jason, created beautiful art. People added their creations to the community chalk area, making it a vibrant display. Artists like Delta Tango Mike with his “Azteca Moderno” street chalk art and Nicole LeBlanc with her first professional street chalk art titled “Music of Nature” added to the artistic flair. The hands of artist Natalie Enzmann were covered in chalk dust as she contributed to the creative atmosphere.

Family Fun and Community Engagement

There were countless activities for families to enjoy. Scout Head, just 1 year old, danced to the music, showing the infectious energy of the event. Jamie and Cheri Tiernan took in the scene, experiencing the joy of the West Ponce Music Stroll. Melody Clements danced to the sounds, adding to the lively atmosphere. This event truly brought the community together, fostering a sense of unity and fun.Local news can't exist without local support.
