Elvis Costello's 2025 'Radio Soul!' Tour: Early Classics Unveiled
2024-12-10
Elvis Costello is all set to embark on an exciting journey through the early years of his career with his 2025 North American tour. This tour holds a special significance as it focuses on crafting a set list primarily from his first 11 albums, ranging from 1978's 'My Aim Is True' to 1986's 'Blood & Chocolate', along with a few delightful surprises. The tour takes its name from the early Costello tune that later became a classic hit, 'Radio Radio'.
Tour Highlights and Lineup
The tour kicks off on June 12 at the Woodland Zoo Park Amphitheatre in Seattle and concludes on July 12 at the Fillmore Miami Beach in Miami Beach. Tickets will go on sale on December 13 at 10 a.m. local time, with an artist presale starting on December 11 at 10 a.m. local time. Full information is available on Costello's website.During the trek, Costello will be accompanied by his backing band, the Imposters. Led by guitarist Charlie Sexton, the Imposters also feature Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas, and Davey Faragher. This ensemble brings a unique blend of talent and experience to the stage.Speaking of the tour, Costello expressed his thoughts, saying, "For any songwriter, it is a great compliment when people want to hear songs written up to 50 years ago. You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure. This show is 'Performed by Elvis Costello & the Imposters', an ensemble that includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new. They are not a tribute band; they are a living, breathing, swooning, swinging, kicking, and screaming rock & roll band that can handle a pretty ballad when the opportunity arises."However, Costello also hinted that this tour might mark the beginning of a kind of end. He mentioned that if the Imposters close out the gig with an encore rendition of one of their newest songs, 'Farewell, OK' from 2022's 'The Boy Named If', it probably means those 'Early Songs' will have been performed in that city for the very last time.Costello continued, "I don't want to go back; I want to bring these songs into the present day once more. In case these songs are ever pushed aside by the next number I write, it's important to give them a new lease on life. Time is running out, but only time will tell. Don't be late; the band hits at eight."Tour Dates and Venues
