The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced the honorees for the 7th annual Celebration of Black Cinema & Television, set to take place on December 9, 2024, at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. This prestigious event recognizes the outstanding contributions and achievements of Black artists, filmmakers, and industry leaders who have made a profound impact on the entertainment landscape.

Recognizing Iconic Figures and Groundbreaking Talents
The 2024 Celebration of Black Cinema & Television will honor a diverse array of honorees, each with their own remarkable accomplishments and contributions to the industry. Among the esteemed recipients are actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, who will be recognized with the Icon Award for his extensive body of work and achievements over the years. Filmmaker Malcolm D. Lee will be celebrated with the Career Achievement Award, marking the 25th anniversary of his acclaimed debut film, "The Best Man."Trailblazers and Social Impact Advocates
The event will also honor Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Regina King with the Trailblazer Award, celebrating her remarkable career and her recent work on the Netflix biopic "Shirley," which chronicles the life of the first Black congresswoman, Shirley Chisholm. Additionally, Oscar-nominated actress Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor will receive the Social Impact Award for her passionate advocacy for social justice, both on and off-screen.Visionary Directors and Producers
The Director Award will be presented to acclaimed filmmaker Steve McQueen for his work on the Apple Original Films' production "Blitz," which has garnered critical acclaim. The Producer Award will be bestowed upon Emmy-nominated actress and producer Natasha Rothwell for her work on the Hulu series "How to Die Alone." STARZ will also recognize Rothwell with a special STARZ #TakeTheLead designation, further amplifying her contributions to narratives by, about, and for underrepresented audiences.Honoring Breakthrough Performances and Rising Stars
The event will also celebrate the talents of Jharrel Jerome, who will receive the Breakthrough Actor Award for his performance in Amazon MGM Studios' "Unstoppable." Actress and musician Ryan Destiny will be recognized with the Rising Star Award – Film for her breakout lead role in Amazon MGM Studios' "The Fire Inside," while actor Michael Rainey Jr. will be honored with the Rising Star Award – Series for his performance in STARZ's "Power Book II: Ghost."Celebrating the Art of Composition and Storytelling
The Celebration of Black Cinema & Television will also recognize the contributions of acclaimed composer Kris Bowers, who will receive the Composer Award for his work on DreamWorks Animation's "The Wild Robot." Additionally, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning artist and Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo will be honored with the Actress Award – Film for her performance in Universal Pictures' "Wicked," and John David Washington will accept the Actor Award – Film for his work in Netflix's "The Piano Lesson."Honoring Small-Screen Talents
The event will also celebrate the small-screen achievements, with Wendell Pierce being recognized with the Actor Award – Series for his work in CBS' "Elsbeth."
