Honoring Educational Excellence: Robert Lamb’s Induction into FCSAA Hall of Fame

Eastern Florida State College's music professor, Dr. Robert Lamb, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). This prestigious honor acknowledges his dedication to education and community service over more than a decade. The award was presented during the FCSAA Winter Music Symposium at Jacksonville University.

Lamb's commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom. As program manager in the Performing and Visual Arts Department, he directs all choral activities and actively volunteers for various FCSAA events. His involvement includes directing the Student Artist Competition and participating in numerous professional organizations. EFSC President Jim Richey praised Lamb's efforts, highlighting his significant impact on students and the local community through initiatives like the Brevard Community Chorus. Colleague Chanji Kim emphasized Lamb's unwavering dedication to enhancing the music programs and positively influencing countless students each year.

New Leadership and Support Initiatives in Brevard County

The Community Foundation for Brevard has welcomed three distinguished professionals—Brian W. Hurd, Mildred Prieto, and Mark G. Thompson—to its board of directors. These appointments bring valuable expertise in law, financial services, and community engagement, furthering the foundation's mission to enhance Brevard County's quality of life. Erik P. Shuman received the title of director emeritus in recognition of his long-standing service and advocacy.

Brian W. Hurd, an experienced attorney specializing in probate and estate planning, founded The Law Office of Brian W. Hurd. Mildred Prieto, a seasoned lawyer focusing on estate planning and trust administration, is a partner at Betten, Murphy & Weiss, Attorneys, P.A. Mark G. Thompson, with over three decades in financial services, advises on wealth management and investment strategies at Raymond James & Associates. Elizabeth Shorr, board chair, expressed enthusiasm about the new additions, noting their leadership and deep ties to the community will significantly amplify the foundation's impact. Meanwhile, Christine Myers rejoined Cypress Bank & Trust as senior relationship manager and senior vice president, leveraging her extensive banking experience to foster community development. Christina Tecson, a cancer survivor, initiated Live Inspired Brevard to provide social support, health and wellness activities, and resources for those dealing with chronic conditions.
