As the Senior Manager of News Operations, you will be responsible for leading and managing the station's news photographers, media managers, and editors. This involves providing valuable feedback to ensure the highest quality production values in all newscasts. Orchestrating Special Event Coverage
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for planning the operational aspects of special event coverage, such as election nights, major sporting events, and out-of-town trips. Your expertise in defining workflows, both in the field and in the edit area, will be essential in delivering comprehensive and engaging coverage to the audience.As the news landscape continues to evolve, you will be tasked with monitoring new and emerging technologies, evaluating how they can enhance and streamline news workflows. Budgeting and Risk Management
In collaboration with the News Director, you will play a crucial role in the development of capital and operational budgets. Your financial acumen and strategic planning skills will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient allocation of resources.Additionally, you will take the lead on all newsgathering safety and risk management issues. Your proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential risks will be crucial in maintaining a safe and secure work environment for your team.
Fostering Vendor Relationships
As the Senior Manager of News Operations, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining vendor relationships, supporting the negotiation of services. Your ability to navigate the complex landscape of industry partnerships will be essential in securing the best possible resources and solutions for the station.Your expertise in labor union contracts and your understanding of new and emerging newsgathering technologies, such as cellular-bonded technology, will be highly valued in this role. These specialized skills will enable you to make informed decisions and drive innovation within the news gathering process.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as a news photographer, along with a deep understanding of field newsgathering and edit operations. Exceptional communication and organizational skills are a must, as you will be responsible for leading a talented team and coordinating complex operations.A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required, and a preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of labor union contracts and emerging newsgathering technologies.
