A vibrant musical event in Richmond is offering aspiring artists the chance to showcase their talents and win a coveted recording session. The Great Busk, scheduled for June 6 near Gallery 5 in the city's Arts District, invites musicians of all genres and ages to participate in this community-focused competition. Organized by Capaz-It, the event combines street performances with fundraising efforts aimed at supporting local causes.
This one-day extravaganza will feature selected performers delivering captivating 15-minute sets, during which they can collect donations through personalized QR codes. Funds raised from these performances will support two worthy organizations: the Eva Stitt School for Newcomers for adult performers and Music Orchard Richmond for younger participants. This initiative not only highlights artistic talent but also fosters community spirit.
Participants are encouraged to apply before the deadline on May 29. Artists will be chosen based on their musical prowess, originality, stage presence, and alignment with the event's core values of creativity and community engagement. Selection criteria ensure that only the most deserving candidates make it to the final stages.
Youth performers have the option to present a single set if preferred. The top three earners will earn the opportunity to perform on Gallery 5’s main stage later in June. Moreover, the highest earner will receive an exclusive professional recording session at Sound of Music Studios, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey.
This innovative event aims to celebrate the diverse musical landscape of Richmond while contributing positively to the community. By combining entertainment with philanthropy, The Great Busk promises to leave a lasting impact on both performers and attendees alike. It serves as a testament to how art and community can come together harmoniously for mutual benefit.
