Collaborating with T Bone Burnett

For this new album, Starr has enlisted the help of acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett, who has co-written many of the tracks. Burnett, a longtime admirer of Starr's work, has described the experience of creating "Look Up" as the realization of a 60-year dream. The two have worked seamlessly together, with Burnett's expertise in the country and Americana genres complementing Starr's innate understanding of the genre.

A Star-Studded Lineup of Collaborators

While "Look Up" is not a collaborative project per se, Starr has enlisted the help of some of the biggest names in country and bluegrass music. Guitarists Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle lend their talents to multiple tracks, with Tuttle even duetting with Starr on the song "Can You Hear Me Call." Other notable guests include the soulful duo Larkin Poe and the indie-folk group Lucius, as well as the legendary Alison Krauss, who provides harmonies on the closing track "Thankful."

One of the standout tracks on "Look Up" is the breakup ballad "Time on My Hands," written by Burnett, Daniel Tashian, and Paul Kennerly. With Paul Franklin's haunting pedal steel weaving a melancholic tapestry, Starr's emotive vocals convey the pain and longing of a man left with nothing but "time on my hands" after the departure of his loved one. The song's poignant lyrics and Starr's heartfelt delivery make it a standout moment on the album.
