The Rock the Country music festival, set to return in 2025, has been hailed as a significant event for Anderson County. Organizers and local officials gathered at the Anderson Civic Center on Wednesday to express their gratitude for the community's support. The two-day festival attracted over 40,000 attendees each day in 2024, boosting hotel occupancy and garnering national media attention. Marty Elliott, vice president of university relations for Peachtree Entertainment, highlighted the positive impact of the event on the local community. Additionally, the festival’s economic benefits were emphasized, with a study revealing a $21.2 million boost to Anderson County. The event also focuses on charitable contributions, further enhancing its significance.
Anderson County was chosen as a key stop for the 2025 Rock the Country tour following an impressive pitch by Adrienne Cole, general manager of the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center, and councilman Greg Elgin. They traveled to Michigan to meet Kid Rock, the organizer of the tour, at his lake house. When asked why Anderson should host the event, Cole emphasized the community's hospitality and unity. Her response resonated with Kid Rock, who promptly agreed to bring the festival to Anderson. This decision underscores the value placed on the region's welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community.
Safety remains a top priority during the festival. Josh Hawkins, director of Emergency Services under the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, stressed the collaborative effort between local authorities and the organizers to ensure public safety. “It’s a collaboration of all the people in Anderson County, and it’s a collaboration with 46 Entertainment,” he said. The combined efforts aim to create a secure environment for both residents and visitors, ensuring everyone can enjoy the festivities without concerns.
The economic impact of Rock the Country is substantial. Rusty Burns, Anderson County Administrator, noted that the festival significantly contributes to the local economy. A study conducted by Clemson University’s Regional Economic Analysis Laboratory confirmed this, reporting a $21.2 million economic impact. This influx of revenue supports businesses and drives growth within the county. The success of the festival not only benefits the entertainment sector but also extends to various other industries, fostering overall development.
As Anderson County prepares for the final stop of the 2025 Rock the Country tour on July 25-26, excitement is building among locals and fans alike. The lineup includes renowned artists such as Kid Rock, Nickelback, Hank Williams Jr., and many others. Beyond the performances, the festival emphasizes charitable giving. Shane Quick, Partner and President of Live Events, highlighted the importance of supporting local charities. Plans are already underway to collaborate with organizations like the United Way of Anderson County, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to making a difference in the community.
