Sting Pauses Tour for Health Recovery, Reschedules Major Performances
2025-01-22
Music icon Sting has announced a temporary hiatus from his tour and award appearances following medical advice. The artist, known for hits like "Every Breath You Take," is prioritizing his health and rescheduling several high-profile events to later in the year.

Health First: Sting Prioritizes Wellness Over Stage

In a recent update, the legendary musician revealed that he would be stepping back from the spotlight temporarily to focus on recuperation. Sting, whose real name is Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, shared the news via Instagram, emphasizing the importance of adhering to his doctor’s recommendations. Fans were informed about the postponement of multiple concerts and an award show appearance due to an undisclosed illness. Despite the inconvenience, Sting expressed deep regret over the changes but assured fans that their tickets would remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

Awards and Concerts Affected by Health Break

The Bass Magazine Awards, where Sting was set to receive a lifetime achievement honor, will now proceed without him. Originally scheduled for this Thursday, the event will go ahead as planned but without the iconic performer’s presence. Meanwhile, Sting’s highly anticipated STING 3.0 concerts in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, have been postponed. The Phoenix concert, initially slated for January 24, will now take place on June 1. Similarly, the Wheatland performance, originally set for January 26, has been moved to May 28.

Beyond these adjustments, Sting also deferred his participation in the Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th anniversary celebration. This special event, which was to occur on January 25 in Los Angeles, has been rescheduled for May 29. Fans who purchased tickets for the original dates are encouraged to hold onto them, as they will be honored at the new performances. Sting conveyed heartfelt apologies for any disruption caused and thanked his supporters for their understanding during this period of recovery.

Family Matters: Personal Challenges Amid Professional Setbacks

Amidst professional challenges, Sting and his family have faced personal trials. In a candid interview with the Sunday Times, Sting’s wife, Trudie Styler, spoke about their son Joe’s loss of his home in the devastating L.A. wildfires. With three young children, the situation has been particularly challenging for the family. Styler mentioned that they have found temporary accommodation in a pet-friendly hotel, ensuring stability for their pets as well. This personal hardship underscores the broader impact of natural disasters on families and communities.

Upcoming Commitments: FireAid Concert Participation Uncertain

Last week, it was announced that Sting would join a star-studded lineup for FireAid, a fundraising concert aimed at supporting wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles. Scheduled for January 30 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood and the Kia Forum, the event features notable artists such as Billie Eilish, Earth, Wind & Fire, Green Day, and many others. However, Sting has yet to confirm whether he will participate in this crucial initiative. As he focuses on his health, the music community eagerly awaits further updates on his involvement in this important cause.
