EuropaCorp Rebounds with Diverse Film and TV Projects
2024-12-23

After a period of restructuring, EuropaCorp, the production company founded by renowned director Luc Besson, has re-emerged with a robust slate of films and television projects. The company is set to produce several French and international titles, including a Snoop Dogg-led sci-fi film and a psychological thriller. Additionally, EuropaCorp is expanding into television series based on its popular intellectual properties. The company's CEO, Jean-Marc Lacarrère, highlighted that 2024 was a pivotal year for consolidating their renewed activities, with multiple films in production and plans to significantly increase business volume in France and internationally.

New Ventures in Film Production

EuropaCorp is making strides in both domestic and international cinema. Among its upcoming releases is "Disorder," a psychological thriller starring Dylan Sprayberry, which explores unconventional methods in a correctional facility. Another notable project is "The Last Man," a science fiction film inspired by classic narratives, featuring Snoop Dogg as both star and co-producer. These ventures showcase EuropaCorp's commitment to diverse genres and storytelling styles.

The company's recent projects include "Dracula," an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Gothic classic, starring Caleb Landry Jones and Christoph Waltz. This film, recently wrapped up shooting, promises to deliver a fresh take on the timeless vampire story. Furthermore, EuropaCorp is developing "Hell in Paradise," a women-powered thriller directed by Leila Sy, and "June & John," a romantic comedy filmed during the pandemic. These varied productions highlight the company's versatility and ambition in the film industry.

Expansion into Television and Collaborative Efforts

EuropaCorp is not only focusing on feature films but also venturing into television series. The company is close to finalizing a deal with Federation Studios to develop and produce series based on its most recognizable IPs. While a "Lucy" spin-off was previously considered, it is not part of the current TV adaptations being explored. This move underscores EuropaCorp's intention to leverage its successful franchises across different media platforms.

In addition to these endeavors, EuropaCorp is collaborating with established French producers on various projects. One such collaboration is with Nolita on an untitled teen movie starring young actors alongside comedian Manu Payet. The company is also working with Windy Production on "Les Glenans," an adventure film directed by Eric Capitaine. EuropaCorp's foray into documentaries includes "Trump, Dieu et les siens," an investigative piece directed by Laurence Haim, offering insights into the behind-the-scenes of Trump's presidential campaign. These partnerships and projects reflect EuropaCorp's strategic approach to diversify its content portfolio and expand its market presence.
