Expansion of Broadcast Coverage for Dallas Wings WNBA Games
2025-04-23

The Dallas Wings WNBA franchise has significantly expanded its local broadcast presence across Texas. Initially, a TEGNA-owned television station in the Dallas-Fort Worth area became the exclusive partner for airing Wings games. Now, additional TEGNA stations within Texas, along with Gray Media and Corridor Television, are broadcasting these matches to reach more fans statewide. CEO Greg Bibb expressed excitement about reaching a broader audience as anticipation builds for an upcoming season. This initiative aims to increase accessibility for fans eager to watch their favorite team.

Recently, the Dallas Wings have enhanced their broadcasting capabilities by partnering with multiple regional networks. These collaborations ensure that the excitement of professional women's basketball reaches communities throughout Texas. Notably, Gray Media-owned stations now air Wings games in Amarillo, Sherman, and Lubbock. Meanwhile, Corridor Television brings coverage to San Antonio via its Fredericksburg-licensed channels, which also extend into Austin through over-the-air translators.

In addition to these partnerships, TEGNA-owned stations further amplify the broadcast footprint. Beyond Dallas's KFAA-29, other co-owned stations such as Abilene's KXVA 15.2, Houston's KTBU 55.1, Midland-Odessa's KWES 9.2, San Angelo's KIDY 6.2, Tyler-Longview's KYTX 19.3, and Waco/Killeen-Temple's KCEN 6.2 and KAGS 23.2 contribute to this extensive network. Such efforts reflect TEGNA’s commitment to making high-quality sports programming available freely across the state.

Brad Ramsey from TEGNA emphasized the importance of providing engaging content regionally. By leveraging free, over-the-air broadcasts, they aim to connect passionate audiences with one of the WNBA's most dynamic teams. The growing enthusiasm surrounding the Dallas Wings underscores the value of expanding access to their games beyond urban centers like Dallas-Fort Worth.

This strategic alliance between the Dallas Wings and various media outlets marks a pivotal moment for enhancing statewide engagement. Fans across Texas can now enjoy live broadcasts without barriers, fostering greater community involvement and support for women's professional sports. Through these initiatives, the Wings continue building momentum ahead of what promises to be an unforgettable season.
