December has arrived, bringing with it a plethora of hot cocoa and holiday specials to kickstart the season. Many network television channels have already begun airing their holiday offerings, such as parades, musical performances, and classic movies around Thanksgiving. ABC, NBC, CBS, and CW have all released their 2024 schedules, sure to get viewers into the holiday spirit. Favorite television shows are also featuring holiday episodes, including "Abbott Elementary" on ABC and "NCIS" on CBS.

Holiday Special Highlights

December 5th

At 8 p.m. on December 5th, ABC airs "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1203". This exciting show showcases amazing Christmas light displays. Additionally, at 9 a.m. on the same day, ABC presents another installment of "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1202". NBC also has a special airing at 8 p.m. on December 5th (with an encore on December 25th). And at 8:30 p.m. on December 5th, NBC continues the holiday fun.

On December 6th at 8 p.m. and December 12th at 8 p.m., NBC keeps the holiday spirit alive with more programming. At 8:31 a.m. on December 8th, ABC offers a special treat. These are just some of the many holiday-themed shows that fill the month of December.

December 8th

At 7 p.m. on December 8th, CW presents "Illumination Presents: Dr. Seuss' The Grinch". This classic holiday story is sure to delight viewers. Later in the evening, at 9 p.m., CW airs "Best Christmas Movies Ever!", providing a selection of the best holiday films.

December 10th

ABC kicks off the day with "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" at 8 p.m. followed by "Disney Prep & Landing" at 9 p.m. and "Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" at 9:30 p.m. These Disney holiday specials are a treat for fans of all ages.

December 11th

At 8 p.m., NBC shows "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1204". At 9 p.m., there is an encore of a previous show. NBC continues the holiday programming with "Shrek the Halls" at 8:30 p.m. and a 9 p.m. encore on December 17th.

December 12th

ABC presents "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1201" at 9 p.m. and "E! News Presents NBC's Hot 10 of 2024" at 9:15 p.m. At 8 p.m. on December 12th and December 26th (with a one-hour extended version), NBC offers more holiday entertainment.

December 14th - 24th

CW has a special at 8 p.m. on December 14th. ABC has various holiday shows throughout this period, including at 7 p.m. on December 15th, 8 p.m. on December 16th, 8 p.m. on December 18th, 8 p.m. on December 22nd, and 8 p.m. on December 24th. NBC also has holiday shows like "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1205" at 8 p.m. on December 19th, "The Great Christmas Light Fight: 1206" at 9 p.m. on December 19th, "Nate Bargatze's Nashville Christmas" at 9 p.m. on December 19th, and "National Christmas Tree Lighting" at 8 p.m. on December 20th.

December 25th - 31st

ABC airs the "Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade" at 10 a.m. EST. On Christmas Day, NBC has various shows including at 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. ABC also has shows at 8 p.m. on December 24th. On December 26th, NBC presents "Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas" at 9 p.m. and ABC has "The Year: 2024" at 9 p.m. CBS has shows like "The Greatest @Home Videos: Holiday Edition" at 8 p.m. and "GRAMMY Greats: The Stories Behind the Songs" at 9 p.m. on December 27th. On December 29th, ABC has shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. and CBS has "GRAMMY Greats: The Most Memorable Moments" at 9 p.m. Finally, on December 31st, ABC has "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025" and CBS has "New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash" at 8 p.m. ET.

Not to forget, on December 25th, the NBA is in action with the San Antonio Spurs at the New York Knicks at noon on ABC, the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Dallas Mavericks at 2:30 p.m. on ABC, the Philadelphia 76ers at the Boston Celtics at 5 p.m. on ABC, "NBA Countdown Presented by Papa Johns" at 7:30 p.m. on ABC, the Los Angeles Lakers at the Golden State Warriors at 8 p.m. on ABC, and the Denver Nuggets at the Phoenix Suns at 10:30 p.m. on ABC.
