2025-01-11

The Grant Park Music Festival is set to present an exceptional lineup of classical vocal performances in 2025. The season opens with a remarkable program featuring the Illinois premiere of Jake Runestad’s “Earth Symphony.” Audiences will also be treated to Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” and Lili Boulanger’s “Psalm 24,” conducted by Christopher Bell. This concert, scheduled for June 13 and 14, promises to captivate listeners with its powerful blend of contemporary and classical compositions.

Throughout the summer, the festival continues to delight music enthusiasts with a series of memorable events. On July 4, mezzo-soprano Imara Miles will take center stage for the “Independence Day Salute,” under the baton of Christopher Bell. Later in July, soprano Janai Brugger and baritone Sankara Harouna will perform Margaret Bonds’ “Credo” and Anton Bruckner’s “Psalm 150,” alongside Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2.” Giancarlo Guerrero conducts the final two concerts in August, which include Benjamin Britten’s “The Building of the House” and Carl Orff’s iconic “Carmina Burana,” featuring a stellar cast of soloists and the Uniting Voices Chicago’s Children Chorus.

Music has the power to unite communities and inspire hearts. The Grant Park Music Festival’s 2025 season exemplifies this spirit through its diverse and enriching programs. By showcasing both established masterpieces and new works, the festival fosters a deeper appreciation for classical music and celebrates the talent of renowned artists. Additionally, a minimum of ten concerts will be broadcast on Chicago’s classical radio station, 98.7 WFMT, extending the joy of live performances to an even wider audience.
