It's that time of the year when the air is filled with the spirit of Christmas. Desus Nice and Scottie Beam bring us the latest episode of Bet! where they share their thoughts on the holidays. From holiday hates to favorite movies and box office predictions, this episode has it all.

Uncover the Holiday Delights with Desus and Scottie

Bahumbug…

The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes a mix of joys and annoyances. On the latest Bet! podcast, hosts Desus Nice and Scottie Beam take us on a journey through the most interesting aspects of the festive period. They discuss holiday travel, those pesky Christmas songs (excluding Mariah's classic), and the extravagance of light shows. But don't worry, they won't be footing your December utility bill!

Travel during the holidays can be a challenge, as they remind us with their talk about the 5 P's. And when it comes to Christmas lights and traditions, there are so many unique ways to celebrate. But one thing they both agree on is the magic of favorite holiday movies. Desus' choice is Gremlins, a film that he loves, while Scottie goes with the Queen Latifah classic, Last Holiday. This movie not only offers a love story but also makes us think about our mortality and what we would do if we had limited time left.

Holiday Box Office Battle

For some, going to the movies on Christmas is a tradition. Desus is all for it, but he has his pet peeves when it comes to movie behavior. Smuggling codfish or fajitas is definitely not appropriate! This Christmas, we have some exciting holdovers like Wicked, Gladiator II, and Moana 2. Mufasa even enters the fray on December 20. But who will rule the holiday box office? Scottie is betting on Moana 2, believing that people still have a soft spot for animated movies and that kids (and their parents) will flock to them. However, Scottie thinks Mufasa, a prequel to Lion King, might be a bit too dark. On the other hand, Desus is firmly behind Mufasa, predicting it will make over $62 million and set a new record. The loser of this bet will have to create a New Year's vision board and present it on the show. Stay tuned to find out the outcome!

Holiday Home Decor

Getting back home for the holidays can be a challenge, especially when it comes to choosing a Christmas tree. Desus shared his sad experience with a $15 Charlie Brown Christmas Tree from the dollar store. Scottie, on the other hand, can't have a real tree due to her dog's appetite for anything on the floor. This year, she might go with a black tree! She believes that the color will make the lights pop and give her a chance to be a bit unconventional since she doesn't have kids.

Christmas Music Dilemma

And then there's the bane of Scottie's existence - Christmas music! Desus and Scottie play a fun game of Guess That Christmas Song, leaving us to wonder if it brought joy or disappointment. It's a part of the holiday season that can either make or break the mood.

Some of the questions to consider include: Will Mufasa be #1 in the domestic box office during the Christmas weekend from December 27 to December 29? Will Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You be #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart during Christmas week? Will the volume of airline passengers during Christmas week in 2024 (from December 22, 2024 to December 28, 2024) be greater than Christmas week passengers in 2023 (December 24, 2023 to December 30, 2023)? Will the Celtics beat the 76ers on Christmas Day? Will the Lakers beat the Warriors on Christmas Day?
