Blake Lively, partner of Ryan Reynolds, played Lady Deadpool in the Deadpool Corps for a brief on-screen time, yet her impact was far-reaching.

Reshoots for Dramatic Effect

In the director's commentary of Deadpool and Wolverine, it was revealed that one note from Blake Lively triggered a small amount of reshoots. Previously, the third act's climax had Deadpool and Wolverine saving the day and destroying the Time Ripper, only to immediately show their survival. However, in the tweaked version that made it to the cinemas, the audience was left unsure of the pair's fate. This added a new layer of suspense as Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) delivered an impassioned speech while spitting bile and venom towards B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku). Then, backed by Iris' 'Goo Goo Dolls', Deadpool and Wolverine walked back out to interrupt Paradox. Reynolds proudly stated, "We did just a day-and-a-half of reshoots on the movie, which we're very proud of. These kinds of movies typically involve weeks of reshoots. But this speech that Matthew has is one of the pieces that we reshot. And he is miraculous."

Adding Emotional Depth

Director Shawn Levy emphasized the significance of Blake Lively's note. He said, "Credit where credit is due. It used to be that there was no suspense; the power room blew up, and our heroes had survived. But Blake Lively said to us, 'You know, I've been with you this whole movie. I want to sit in the fear that they're lost. Let me be in that place of suspense so the triumph of their survival is more emotional and visceral.'
