ITV's I'm A Celebrity: Preparing to Evacuate Stars Due to Rain
2024-12-01
“I’m A Celebrity” stars found themselves in a precarious situation when their camp was hit by floods. ITV bosses were quick to draw up emergency plans to ensure the safety of the stars. A part of the set was torn apart, and the roads leading to the site were submerged. Even the Saturday 30 November trial had to be postponed by an hour.

Weather Conditions in the Jungle

On Sunday night, the celebs woke up to torrential flooding after a night of heavy rain. Corrie star Ian Halsall vividly described the situation, saying, “Last night’s weather was honestly biblical. We had rivers flowing through camp, pathways that are now waterways, and everyone’s bed was drenched. It was an incredible sight. That was some rain that came down!” Former boxer Barry McGuigan added, “In my entire 63 years of life, I have never ever seen such rain. Never!” Hosts Ant and Dec, who have hosted the TV show for years, revealed that they had never witnessed such bad weather before.

Barry McGuigan's Trial Experience

Former boxer Barry McGuigan nominated himself to take part in the Bushtucker trial. Upon reaching the trial area, he asked Ant and Dec if this year’s weather is the worst they’ve seen. They confirmed his suspicion. Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly took to social media to share their journey into the camp over the weekend. They had to drive their car across a flooded road. Ant, 49, explained, “We all got texts this morning saying the rain is so bad you might not even make it in today.” Dec, also 49, then said, “It was an effort to get the show on air today. There were only a few people here.”

ITV's Contingency Plans

Sources revealed that bosses were worried that the storm, which had 114.5mm of rain falling in just 24 hours, could affect their satellite system and coverage. An ITV spokesperson said, “We have contingency plans in place to cover all weather eventualities. The health and safety of our celebrities is an absolute priority.”

Elimination Process

One more celeb will be eliminated from the jungle later tonight following Loose Women star Jane Moore’s exit on Friday night. Voting is now open for viewers to keep their favourite celebs in camp. The campmates with the fewest votes will be at risk of being eliminated.“I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
