Meeting the President: A Fulfilling Experience
During the UFC 309 event at Madison Square Garden in New York on November 16th, Jelly Roll, who is 40 years old, expressed his unwavering stance. He said, "Dude, there's not a chance in hell that I'm not going to meet the president-elect. I don't care." He emphasized that he would be excited to meet any president and added that if he had received a call to meet Joe Biden, he would have stopped at any point to do so. Jelly Roll further stated that he doesn't hide behind the "I'm not political" stuff and is one of the old-school dudes who likes to talk about things he's passionate about. He admitted that he doesn't know enough about politics to act like he knows everything but believes that the president's position is the hardest job in the world. When asked about his parents' influence on his voting culture, Jelly Roll said that they didn't push him to vote but did teach him to respect the president. He concluded that meeting President Trump was a cool experience and that he didn't really care about the blowback he might receive. Bunnie Xo, who is 44 years old, agreed, stating that meeting a president or a vice president is an honor.Testimony on the Fentanyl Crisis
Jelly Roll also spoke about how honored he was to have time with the senators in January who discussed his testimony on the fentanyl crisis. He mentioned that he didn't know which side any of them were on and that his cause is to bring things together. He plans to work with whatever administration is in power for the rest of his life as his cause remains the same. The singer testified before Congress, asking for a bill to pass that would combat the supply and distribution of the drug throughout the country.Overcoming the Past
Jelly Roll has a past filled with legal troubles. He spent 10 years in and out of prison on charges ranging from aggravated robbery to possession with intent to sell cocaine. In a November PEOPLE cover, the Grammy-nominated star said that he has made peace with his past but is still healing. He compared his journey to rounding third on his amends list and believes that when he reaches there, he will feel better. He also shared that he was hitting some stone walls with people who wouldn't forgive him and realized that he needed to forgive himself too. He acknowledged that he had lived an extremely crazy, narcissistic, and selfish lifestyle in the past and that it had caused a lot of pain. Despite the changes he has made, he understands that some people are still angry about his success. However, he is doing better at letting go of the past and realizing that he doesn't owe that part of him anything.
