Jeremy Allen White's Star Wars Journey Begins

The Bear and Beyond

Jeremy Allen White's performance in "The Bear" was nothing short of remarkable. He brought the chaotic world of the restaurant to life, with his intense emotions and raw talent. The show delved deep into the lives of the characters, and White's portrayal of Carmy was both relatable and inspiring. It was a role that demanded a lot from him, and he rose to the occasion with flying colors. In addition to "The Bear," White's work in "The Iron Claw" was equally impressive. He took on the challenging role of Kerry Von Erich, a professional wrestler with a complex backstory. Through his performance, White was able to capture the essence of the character, showing his strength, vulnerability, and determination. It was a role that required him to step outside of his comfort zone, and he did so with grace and authenticity.

Joining the Star Wars Universe

According to "THR," White is set to join the Star Wars universe and voice a key role in Jon Favreau's "The Mandalorian & Grogu." This is an exciting development for both White and Star Wars fans alike. White will be voicing Rotta the Hutt, son of limacine gangster Jabba. The news comes after Pedro Pascal reprised his role as the titular bounty hunter from "The Mandalorian" and continued his adventures in space with his adoptive son Grogu.White is only the second new name to join the call sheet for the movie, following Sigourney Weaver's casting back in May. While we don't know exactly who Weaver will be playing or what the plot will entail, the convergence of plot threads from "Ahsoka," "Rebels," and possibly even "Skeleton Crew" adds to the excitement. And we have already met White's character Rotta before, having first seen him in the "Clone Wars" movie back in 2008 and glimpsed him once in the "Clone Wars" TV show.

Rotta's Past and Present

Rotta the Hutt was used as a pawn in the conflict between the Separatists and the Republic. In 2008, he was kidnapped by the former faction in an attempt to frame the latter. However, the plot backfired, and Rotta has been absent from the Star Wars universe ever since. During the events of "The Book Of Boba Fett," he played no part in the post-Jabba's death power struggle, and his status during "The Mandalorian Season 3" remains undefined, despite being the obvious next-in-line to his father's criminal underworld throne. So, the question remains: will Rotta prove a valuable ally to Mando and Grogu? Will he have unfinished business with his father's allies and enemies? And what has he been up to all these years? We will find out the answers when "The Mandalorian & Grogu" lands in cinemas on 22 May, 2026. This is the way!
