Uncovering the Secrets of a Successful Marriage and Work-Life Blend

Maintaining a Happy Marriage

Even though Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney are both involved in the busy world of late-night television, they have managed to keep their marriage strong. They worked together for eight years before dating and have continued to keep that dynamic the same. "We know how to compartmentalize," McNearney, the executive producer and co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, shared. "It definitely can be difficult when I pitch ideas and get rejected by my husband, but I've got thick skin." Kimmel, 57, quipped, "I get rejected plenty, believe me." Their ability to handle these moments shows the resilience of their relationship.

Work-Life Balance in Action

The couple's work-life balance is a sight to behold. Even when they clock out, the creative process doesn't stop. Kimmel confessed, "No. Never. Not even sleep. It never stops. No, no, never." McNearney echoed, "He'll wake up in the middle of the night, 'Oh, let's write this down.' Or in the car, he'll say, 'Get your phone and write this down,' because he's usually the one driving and the brain is always working." Yet, they also make time for "date nights." Kimmel revealed, "Our date nights are like, lying in bed watching TV. We don't like to go out." McNearney added, "So hot. That is a nice night for us. Postmates and Netflix, and it's perfect. Or Hulu, of course."

Supporting Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney have two children together: daughter Jane, 10, and son Billy, 7. Their son Billy was born with a rare and life-threatening heart condition and received care at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. This year, the couple served as honorary chairs for the gala. Kimmel said, "It's great to know that this hospital is here for anybody in Los Angeles or even the area and they are so good with kids and so good with parents, which is, I think, kind of rare. And they're obviously great at what they do, but also, I think that for us personally it's very meaningful. When we had to decide where we were going to get our son, Billy, operated on, we talked to a lot of doctors, and we decided that this was the best place, and we feel strongly that we made the right decision."
