Oscar-Nominated Diane Warren and Her Musical Journey
Diane Warren has an impressive track record, having been nominated for 15 best original song Oscars but yet to win the award. In fact, no woman in Oscars history has received more nominations in any category without winning. However, she has received an honorary Oscar. Her work with luminaries like Celine Dion, Cher, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Taylor Swift speaks volumes about her talent. For “The Journey,” she drew inspiration from Tyler Perry's film. Perry's film, “The Six Triple Eight,” is based on the article “Fighting a Two-Front War” by Kevin M. Hymel and stars an ensemble cast. It tells the story of the first and only Women's Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in WWII, given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination. These unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers.H.E.R., who won the best original song Oscar in 2021 for “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah and has won five Grammys, is a part of this beautiful musical and cinematic journey. She met Warren more than 12 years ago, and seeing her growth and being a part of it is a full circle moment. The music video not only showcases H.E.R.'s talent but also tells a story of resilience and perseverance. As Warren said, “The story of The Six Triple Eight is one about resilience and perseverance, and I’m so proud to be part of bringing the story of these amazing women to light.”The film is set to have a limited release in select theaters on Dec. 6 before streaming on Netflix starting on Dec. 20. It is an important story that deserves to be told and shared with the world. We all have our own journeys, and this music video hopes to speak to everyone on theirs. H.E.R.'s performance and the connection between the song and the film make it a truly remarkable piece.
