A Journey of Music and Love: The Tale of Davis and Haleigh
2025-03-27

Two souls, united by music and love, have carved a unique niche in the world of melodies. This is the story of Davis Little and Haleigh Black, who met under unexpected circumstances and eventually formed the Birmingham-based duo Davis and Haleigh. Their journey encompasses not only their musical influences but also their personal growth as partners both romantically and professionally. From jazz to Celtic tunes, their sound reflects a blend of various genres without deliberate fusion, creating something uniquely theirs.

It all began when Davis noticed Haleigh during a performance where she was invited on stage. Struck by her violin skills, he made an impressionable first encounter. However, romance wasn’t immediate; Haleigh was preparing for an extended trip abroad. During this period, she stumbled upon Davis's social media presence and became intrigued by his artistry. Reaching out after returning home, they reconnected, realizing their earlier missed opportunity had set the stage for what would become a profound partnership.

Their relationship thrived alongside their shared passion for music. Influenced by diverse genres ranging from Appalachian folk to eastern sounds, they let these elements naturally seep into their creations rather than forcing them together. This organic approach results in reflective, meditative pieces imbued with distinct touches such as blending "Scarborough Fair" with echoes of Dave Brubeck’s work.

After six years together, last summer marked a pivotal moment as they recorded their debut album at a serene cabin near Lake Martin. Titled "Bend," it symbolizes multiple facets of their lives—musical improvisation requiring flexibility, emotional escapes through sound, and the compromises inherent in any long-term relationship. Scheduled for release on March 28th, accompanied by a live event at Workplay in Birmingham, the album promises listeners an evocative auditory experience.

This project encapsulates more than just music—it embodies the essence of bending, adapting, and growing together. As Davis expresses, music serves as a universal language of emotions, hoping to resonate deeply with those who hear it. Through every note played and decision made, Davis and Haleigh continue demonstrating how intertwined their lives are within the realm of melody and harmony.
