Lindsay Arnold, once a prominent figure on Dancing with the Stars (DWTS), has transitioned into a new chapter of her life. After over a decade on the show, she decided to step away in September 2022 to focus on her family. Now a mother of two daughters, Sage Jill and June Cusick, Arnold has found fulfillment in raising her children and building a successful career as a social media influencer and fitness entrepreneur. She reflects positively on her decision, emphasizing how becoming a mom shifted her priorities and led her to prioritize family over fame.
Arnold's journey from Hollywood stardom to suburban Utah began when she welcomed her first child in November 2020. This pivotal moment marked a significant change in her life. "Everything changed in the best way," she recalls. Her mindset evolved, and she realized that spending time with her family was more valuable than pursuing further success in the entertainment industry. Even before her first child was born, Arnold had discussions with her husband about starting a family and eventually leaving DWTS. Winning season 25 alongside Jordan Fisher gave her a sense of accomplishment, making it easier for her to depart from the show.
Moving back to her hometown of Utah, where she grew up, felt like coming home. Unlike many dancers who dream of living in Los Angeles, Arnold never fully embraced the fast-paced lifestyle of Hollywood. "I actually never loved or embraced Hollywood in a sense of where I’d want to live," she explains. Instead, she preferred returning to Utah between seasons to be close to her family. The transition to Utah allowed her to reconnect with her roots and build a supportive community around her.
Arnold's career transformation included embracing social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, where she now boasts almost 2 million followers. Initially, stepping away from DWTS was daunting, but she focused on creating content that felt authentic to her. "It’s been so cool because every step of the way, by just truly being myself, sharing what I’m doing, it’s naturally evolved my career," she says. One of her notable ventures is The Movement Club, a workout program designed to cater to women at various stages of life, including pregnancy and postpartum recovery. This initiative stemmed from her desire to create an inclusive space for all women to stay active and healthy.
In Utah, Arnold has found a vibrant community of moms who share similar passions. Despite having a background that differs from the traditional "tradwife" lifestyle often associated with the area, she feels supported by those around her. Her relationship with her high school sweetheart and husband, Samuel Lightner Cusick, remains strong due to their unwavering support for each other's endeavors. "We are the epitome of opposites attract," she notes, highlighting how they complement each other despite their differences.
The most rewarding aspect of motherhood for Arnold is watching her daughters grow and learn every day. "It’s truly an honor that I get to guide them and watch them," she says. While she hasn't completely ruled out a return to DWTS, she acknowledges that many factors would need to align for that to happen. For now, she is content with her current life, feeling fulfilled as both a mother and an entrepreneur. Seeing her sister Rylee join DWTS as a professional dancer has also provided her with a unique connection to the show without requiring her to return full-time.
Reflecting on her journey, Arnold expresses gratitude for the path she has chosen. The shift from dancer to mom and influencer was initially scary but ultimately rewarding. She emphasizes the importance of following one's heart and staying true to personal values. By prioritizing family and authenticity, Lindsay Arnold has carved out a fulfilling new life that brings her joy and purpose.
