"Merry Christmas! NFL Teams Ranked by Christmas Movie Analogies"
2024-12-12
December 12th has arrived, and we're just 13 days away from the much-anticipated Christmas. Thirteen days! It feels like just yesterday we were giving thanks, and now we're rushing around trying to find last-minute gifts that will likely be re-gifted. But we still spend our hard-earned money on them because society has conditioned us to do so. Tis the season!

Discover Where Your Team Stands in the Christmas NFL Power Rankings

Tier 1: The 'Christmas Vacation' tier

The Detroit Lions hold the top spot this week (formerly ranked 1st), followed closely by the Philadelphia Eagles (formerly 3rd), the Buffalo Bills (formerly 2nd), and the Kansas City Chiefs (formerly 4th). In terms of Christmas movies, there's simply no competition. 'Christmas Vacation' is a holiday classic that has been loved by audiences for decades. Randy Quaid's performance is legendary, and he truly nails every scene from start to finish. This tier has remained relatively stable for about a month, but there was a bit of movement this week with the Eagles and Bills swapping places. It's hard to believe the Eagles are actually a better team, but the Bills did give up 50 points to a mediocre Rams team. There need to be consequences for such performances.

Just imagine the Griswold family's Christmas adventures – it's a sight to behold. The chaos, the laughter, and the spirit of the holiday all come together in this movie. It's no wonder it's the most universally liked Christmas movie ever.

Tier 2: The 'Christmas Story' tier

The Pittsburgh Steelers remain in 5th place (formerly ranked 5th), along with Chef Russ & Ciera (newly ranked), the Minnesota Vikings (formerly 8th), the Baltimore Ravens (formerly 7th), the Green Bay Packers (formerly 9th), the Denver Broncos (formerly 10th), and the LA Chargers (but only against the luckiest team in the world, formerly 11th). 'Christmas Story' is another classic that has stood the test of time. The 'old man' character is perhaps one of the greatest of all time, and this scene where he shouts 'Sons of bitches! Bumpuses!' never fails to make us laugh out loud, even after seeing it countless times. There wasn't a lot of movement in this tier this week, but the Vikings are inching closer to returning to the first tier. They're working hard, and that's all we can ask for.

The movie captures the essence of Christmas with its charming story and memorable characters. It's a must-watch during the holiday season.

Tier 3: The 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' tier

The Seattle Seahawks are ranked 12th (formerly 13th), followed by the Tampa Bay Bucs (formerly 16th), the Washington Redskins (formerly 14th), the Houston Texans (formerly 15th), the Miami Dolphins (until they inevitably lose to a good team on the road this week, formerly 18th), the LA Rams (formerly 20th), and the Arizona Cardinals (formerly 17th). Rudolph and Frosty get all the attention, but 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' is the true gem of this era. With a great soundtrack, hot women (like Jessica), drama, and a heart-pounding finish, it has it all. This song might be the most underrated on the planet. It's wild to think that the wokes tried to cancel this movie – it just goes to show its timeless appeal.

These NFC West teams are a mixed bag. We're not sure if they'll make any noise this year or get blown out in the wild card round. But one thing's for sure – it's going to be an interesting postseason.

Tier 4: The 'Four Christmases' tier

The Cincinnati Bengals are ranked 20th (formerly 25th), along with Joe Burrow's roommate (newly ranked), the Indy Colts (formerly 22nd), and the Carolina Panthers (who may actually be the best team in the NFC South, formerly 26th). 'Four Christmases' is an underrated Christmas movie that often gets overlooked. It's funny without being overly crazy or spectacular. Watching it makes you realize that these teams have potential – they're not great right now, but they could be.

The movie's charm lies in its simplicity and the way it captures the essence of the holiday season.

Tier 5: The 'Jingle All The Way' tier

The Atlanta Falcons, who may be the worst team in the NFC South, are ranked 24th (formerly 21st), followed by the Cleveland Browns (formerly 23rd), the New Orleans Saints (formerly 27th), the Dallas Cowboys (formerly 28th), Cooper Rush's wife Laurynn (newly ranked), the Jacksonville Jaguars (formerly 33rd), the New England Patriots (formerly 31st), the Chicago Bears (formerly 30th), the Oakland Raiders (formerly 32nd), the Tennessee Titans (formerly 29th), and the New York Jets (formerly 34th). 'Jingle All The Way' is a cult classic that features Arnold Schwarzenegger, SEABASS, and a young Jake Lloyd. It's a ridiculous movie with some hilarious quotes from Phil Hartman. Despite not being widely known, those who have seen it always enjoy it.

All these teams are struggling this season, but there's always hope for the future.
