Unveiling Opto Music's Artistic Evolution Through "OKAY"
Origin and Purpose of "OKAY"
"OKAY" was crafted in 2020 during the challenging times of the pandemic. Its purpose was to capture the complex emotion of saying one is okay when internally struggling. Opto shared, "I never wanted to show weakness or sadness, but the music became my outlet. It was a way to process my emotions."This song wasn't an immediate release. Initially, the beat was different - more laid back and not fully produced. Opto sold that version as he wasn't confident in his artistic abilities at the time. But a persistent pull led him to recreate the beat, making it more modern and enhanced. He recorded it multiple times, experimenting with different versions to achieve the best performance. The Creative Process and Influences
During the creative process, Opto drew inspiration from various sources. One of his homies, SYFR, produced the orchestral elements, laying down strings that added a cinematic feel. Opto then added transitions and more impact to make the song fuller and more rounded out.The inspiration for the orchestral version came from Jon Bellion's “Hand of God” outro and the “Transformers” theme song “Arrival to Earth” by Steve Jablonsky. By listening to a lot of movie soundtracks, he was able to translate that energy into “OKAY,” giving it an elevated and enhanced vibe.Different Versions and Audience Response
This song comes in three versions - the original, a sped-up version inspired by TikTok trends, and the orchestral version. Opto was shocked by how catchy the sped-up version became and how much he personally loved the song. When he shared it with friends, they were blown away and encouraged him to release it.They kept texting him, saying, "If you're not going to drop it, just send it to me so I can listen in my spare time." This feedback gave him the confidence to release the song, and he now sees it as a fitting outro to his artistic career.Opto Music credits GetMXD, Connor Back, and Jacob Biz for mixing and mastering the song. Each version showcases his growth and development as an artist.Opto Music's Future Aspirations
