The shortlists for the highly anticipated 2025 Academy Awards' music categories have finally arrived. Maren Morris and her co-writers are vying for a nomination with their song "Kiss the Sky" from "The Wild Robot". Pharrell Williams made the shortlist with the title song of his "Piece by Piece" movie. There are also multiple songs from Emilia Pérez, with Clément Ducol and Camille writing "El Mal" for Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, and "Mi Camino" for Selena Gomez. For example, Aaron Pierre & Tiffany Boone's "Tell Me It’s You (Mufasa: The Lion King)" brings a sense of nostalgia and emotion. The Academy also released the shortlist for Best Documentary Feature Film, including director Gary Hustwit's "Eno". This documentary adds another dimension to the awards season and showcases the power of music in documentary filmmaking.

Furthermore, the nominees for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards have been revealed, with some overlap with the Academy Awards shortlists. All but one of the Best Original Score – Motion Picture nominees are on the Oscars shortlist, with the lone holdout being "Dune: Part Two", which was scored by Hans Zimmer and is instead being considered for "Blitz". Only one Golden Globe nominee, Miley Cyrus, Lykke Li, and Andrew Wyatt's "Last Showgirl song "Beautiful That Way", is not on the Academy Awards shortlist.

The 2025 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Conan O’Brien hosting. This is an exciting event that will showcase the best of musical talent in the film industry.
