An LGBTQ+ television and streaming service, OUTtv, is making its debut in Asia by collaborating with Chunghwa Telecom to introduce OUTtv in Taiwan. This marks the company's first linear offering in the region, providing audiences with a diverse selection of content tailored specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. OUTtv officially went live on March 18th in Taiwan through Chunghwa Telecom’s IPTV service and Multimedia On Demand (MOD) platform, accessible on channel 375. With over two million MOD OTT subscribers, this launch represents a strategic alliance between OUTtv and Ulight Entertainment Technology, which aims to distribute OUTtv across Asia. Additionally, OUTtv recently entered the New Zealand market via Prime Video and expanded its SVoD service, OUTflix, to the Nordics.
This milestone comes as part of OUTtv's broader expansion strategy, focusing on delivering authentic storytelling that resonates with LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies. The partnership with Chunghwa Telecom allows OUTtv to offer original programming such as popular series like For The Love of DILFs, Sew Fierce, and Call Me Mother, alongside an extensive library of documentaries, films, and specials. These offerings highlight OUTtv's commitment to creating inclusive and representative content for global audiences.
The collaboration with Ulight Entertainment Technology has been instrumental in facilitating OUTtv's entry into Taiwan and other parts of Asia. Ulight Entertainment plays a crucial role in ensuring that OUTtv's distinctive programming reaches new viewers while navigating the complexities of the Asian media landscape. This initiative aligns with OUTtv's mission to provide diverse narratives that celebrate the richness of the LGBTQ+ experience.
Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv, expressed excitement about bringing the channel to Asia for the first time. He emphasized the significance of meeting the demand for authentic storytelling within the LGBTQ+ community. By partnering with Chunghwa Telecom and Ulight Entertainment Technology, OUTtv is poised to expand its reach further throughout Asia, connecting with more audiences who value diverse representation.
In addition to expanding geographically, OUTtv continues to enhance its content offerings, ensuring they remain relevant and impactful. Lei Chi Chen, CEO and Founder of Ulight Entertainment Technology, highlighted the importance of this launch in promoting inclusivity in Asian media markets. Through their ongoing efforts, both companies aim to support global content providers in reaching wider audiences while fostering greater understanding and acceptance of LGBTQ+ stories.
As OUTtv establishes its presence in Taiwan, it sets the stage for future growth opportunities across Asia. By leveraging partnerships and innovative programming, OUTtv seeks to inspire and connect with communities worldwide, reaffirming its dedication to celebrating diversity and inclusion in entertainment.
