CEO Barry Litwin delivered the news that the company would be shutting down operations with immediate effect. Employees were informed that Friday, December 20th, would be their last day at work. Regrettably, they were also told there would be no severance pay, and benefits would terminate as the company wound down.

Litwin expressed deep regret during the video conference, acknowledging this as one of the most difficult messages he had ever delivered. He explained that despite the company's best efforts, the mounting financial pressures proved insurmountable. Inflation had driven up costs while simultaneously reducing consumer spending, making it increasingly challenging for Party City to stay afloat.
