Sabrina Carpenter Fell in Love with Paul McCartney After "Rocky Raccoon"
2024-12-13
Paul McCartney, the renowned musician, has been happily married to Nancy Shevell since 2011. However, there was a remarkable moment when Sabrina Carpenter believed she might have had a chance with him. In an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on December 12th, the "Espresso" singer shared a childhood memory. As a child, when her dad played her "Rocky Raccoon" for the first time, she was completely mesmerized by the song and its songwriting. She fell in love with Paul McCartney, who was 82 years old at that time. Carpenter, now 25, said, "I was convinced that was my husband, my future husband. But he was quite old, and I was so young. I didn't understand that he was much older than me because I was looking at all these photos." At that time, she thought McCartney was "young" and "only like 10 years older than me." She quipped, "I didn't understand math. I was a child."Meeting McCartney at the MusiCares Ceremony
Earlier this year, Carpenter got the opportunity to meet McCartney at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony honoring Jon Bon Jovi before the recent Grammy Awards. They posed together for a photo, and Carpenter recalled the moment. She said, "I just formed tears in my eyes, and he was just so normal and casual and was so charming. It felt like I was entering an alternate universe… like the Upside Down vibes? Like Stranger Things, but a lot happier than Stranger Things." She added that McCartney made the entire room of people feel "seen and heard."Spotify Wrapped and Her Top Artists
In an interview with Vogue Arabia published earlier this week, the former child star revealed that she made the cut on her own Spotify Wrapped list of top artists this year with her hit "Espresso." She said, "It's funny because when I first saw mine, my initial reaction was, 'Oh damn, I can't post that, because I'm on my own [list]. It's a bit conceited.' Then I was like, I guess it's a good thing that I'm on my list and listening to my own music, because it means I f— with what I do." She also mentioned other artists on her list like Dolly Parton, ABBA, Kacey Musgraves, and the Bee Gees.
