San Francisco's Thrive City Buzzes with Tree Lighting and Music
2024-12-01
The holiday season in San Francisco is truly in full swing, with an exciting event attracting over 2,000 people to Chase Center's Thrive City on Saturday. This Winter Wonderland tree lighting celebration was a sight to behold.
Highlight of the Event: Montell Jordan
The event was headlined by Grammy-nominated artist Montell Jordan, known for his hit "This Is How We Do It." He led the countdown to the lighting of the 90-foot-tall tree at Thrive City. Once the tree was aglow, a magical shower of artificial snow fell upon the attendees. One guest shared, "The tree lighting was wonderful. Montel Jordan was the highlight." And a group of kids from San Mateo, accompanied by their families, were completely surprised by the snow. As one child recalled, "It came out of the tree like magic."Holiday Delights for All Ages
Visitors of all ages found joy in the holiday lights and music. 96-year-old Virginia Silva, who has called San Francisco home since she was 16, attended the tree lighting for the first time this year. She was accompanied by her family and has many cherished holiday memories in the city, like taking the street car to go holiday shopping at the Emporium. "I always love Christmas, the Christmas holidays, always," Silva remarked. She was glad to be a part of this relatively new San Francisco holiday tradition at Thrive City. "I think it’s beautiful. I’m glad that I was here to watch it," she said.More Winter Wonderland Events in December
Thrive City will continue to host a variety of Winter Wonderland events throughout December. There will be skating opportunities and celebrations for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. It's a time for the community to come together and enjoy the holiday spirit.Viewing Party for the San Francisco 49ers
