The impending closure of the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola has stirred a whirlwind of emotions for reality star Savannah Chrisley. The 27-year-old expressed her conflicted feelings during an episode of her podcast, Unlocked, aired on January 28. While acknowledging the poor conditions at the facility, she remains uncertain about her father Todd’s future placement. “It’s a bittersweet moment,” she conveyed, highlighting both relief and anxiety over the situation.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, efforts will be made to relocate inmates within 500 miles of their intended release location, considering various factors like program needs. Savannah voiced concerns that her father might face retaliation from a staff member, potentially leading to a less favorable transfer. She emphasized her commitment to ensuring fair treatment: “I hope and pray they abide by that policy because if not, you guys know I will fight tooth and nail.” The nearest alternative facility, FCI Marianna, is approximately two hours away, adding another layer of uncertainty.
Beyond the immediate concerns about her father’s relocation, Savannah has taken a stand against the demolition of the prison. Her primary goal now is to gather comprehensive documentation regarding the facility’s environmental hazards. “I need to know everything—the lead-based paint, black mold, asbestos levels, and water quality,” she explained. Savannah aims to support former inmates who may have suffered health issues due to the facility’s conditions. “They went there for a certain time and are leaving with a lifetime sentence of medical problems,” she asserted, underscoring her determination to seek justice for these individuals.
In addition to her advocacy for her father, Savannah also shared her distress over her mother Julie’s experience during transit to another facility. Despite the challenges, she finds strength in faith: “If mom can do it, dad can do it, and I know that God has a plan for it all.” This resilient attitude reflects her unwavering support for her family through difficult times, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and hope in the face of adversity.
