The Search for the Oregon Beach Photographer Who Disappeared
2024-12-19
The search for a father who vanished after venturing to an Oregon beach to capture the beauty of high tides has become a mystery. Joseph Neill, a survivalist with a passion for photography, left his home on Sunday, Dec. 15, to go to Horsefall Beach and take "photographs of the king tide." But he never made it back.

Unraveling the Disappearance of Joseph Neill at the Oregon Coast

Initial Disappearance and Search Efforts

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) received a call from the Bend Police Department seeking assistance in finding Joseph Neill. His children shared a statement on Facebook stating that he had gone to the beach to fulfill his photography passion but had not returned home. Early on Monday, Dec. 16, his car was found near a landmark known as Jordan Point. Authorities then called in a K9 team to track his whereabouts, but ultimately determined that he was "no longer in that area." The search was conducted on private property with hazards, and the public was advised not to be on the property without permission. The Coast Guard also briefly joined the search but suspended efforts as there was evidence suggesting Neill was elsewhere.

Possible Locations and His Nature

Neill's children believe he likely either walked to a few low points inland to capture the reflections of the full moon with the king tide or perhaps along the shoreline near Horsefall Beach. His survivalist skills give them hope that he may be able to endure in a tough situation. "My dad means the world to us," they said. "Please share as quickly as possible, let's find Joe!"

Call for Information

Anyone with information about Neill's whereabouts is urged to contact the North Bend Police Department at 541-756-3161. The community is coming together in the hope of reuniting this father with his family. Every piece of information could be crucial in solving this mystery and bringing Neill back home.
