Former So You Think You Can Dance choreographer Sonya Tayeh recently paid a heartfelt tribute to her late costar Stephen “tWitch” Boss on the second anniversary of his passing. This significant event took place at the opening night celebration of Romeo + Juliet on October 25. Tayeh, who serves as the Broadway production’s movement director and choreographer, opened up to PEOPLE about the enduring impact of tWitch, who tragically died by suicide at the age of 40 in December 2022.

“tWitch’s presence was truly extraordinary. It’s not every day that one meets someone who is already so transcendent,” shared Tayeh, who is 47 years old. “He is an angel in our lives, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and souls. His talent on the dance floor was nothing short of miraculous, and his conversations with me about family, art, and the world were invigorating and profound. tWitch first competed on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008 and ended season 4 as a runner-up. His talent was undeniable, and he later returned as an All-Star. In 2022, he even took on the role of a judge when the show returned. His journey on the show was a testament to his skill and passion for dance.His performances on the stage were a sight to behold. After the news of tWitch’s death, Tayeh joined a chorus of his former costars in remembering the television personality. In a statement to PEOPLE at the time, she shared, “Blessed beyond belief to be in the presence of Twitch (I called him Twizzle). The gift he gave to our beloved dance community is boundless. Watching him dance was like watching a marvel of the craft grace us. He will be forever in our cells.”Allison Holker also remembered her late husband on the second anniversary on December 13. She shared a photo of the pair posing alongside their children on social media and wrote, “Our Angel @sir_twitch_alot is watching over us and protecting us. You are always on our hearts and we will always love you. We miss you Stephen. 2 years with you not here but you are always on our minds.
