Details of the Recall

In mid-December, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued a recall for specific Tesla models, including the Model 3 from 2017 to 2025, the Model Y from 2020 to 2025, and the Cybertruck from 2024. The primary concern is a malfunction in the tire pressure warning light, which could fail to alert drivers adequately about under-inflated tires. This oversight increases the risk of collisions, making it a critical safety issue.

The NHTSA reported that Tesla's dealerships and service centers will be informed of this recall shortly after December 19th. Vehicle owners affected by this issue will receive notifications on February 15, 2025. To rectify the problem, Tesla plans to provide a free over-the-air software update to all impacted vehicles. According to the administration, there have been 76 warranty claims and one field report associated with this issue.

This is not the first time Tesla has faced recalls recently. In April, the company recalled nearly 4,000 Cybertrucks due to a problem with the accelerator pedal. The issue involved the covering pad potentially detaching when high force was applied, posing a risk of getting trapped in the interior trim.
