In the early hours of Wednesday, January 1st, tragedy struck at a motel situated along Airport Hotel Boulevard in Louisville. Just past 4:30 a.m., local authorities received an urgent report of a drowning incident. Upon arrival, officers from the LMPD’s Seventh Division entered one of the motel rooms where they discovered the 3-month-old infant who had drowned. Emergency responders immediately began administering CPR and other life-saving measures until paramedics arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, despite their valiant efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the location.
The identity of the deceased infant has been revealed by his 16-year-old sister, Kiyah Winstead, who named him Ki’arri. In an emotional statement to local media, Kiyah expressed her profound grief over the loss of her younger brother, emphasizing how much joy and light he brought into people's lives. She described the void left by his absence as unfillable and shared that this pain is something she could never have prepared for, being Ki’arri’s only sibling.

The funds raised will help cover expenses related to honoring his memory and ensuring a dignified resting place for the young soul. The community has rallied around the family during this difficult time, offering support and condolences.
The LMPD’s homicide unit has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ki’arri’s death. At present, no charges have been filed, but the investigation remains ongoing.
