Two-Year Pact Restores Kazakh Music Access on Meta Platforms
2025-04-15

A landmark agreement has been reached, enabling Kazakhstan's creators to incorporate local music into their social media content once more. This development, announced by Sholpan Abdreyeva, head of the Intellectual Property Committee, ensures that users can now freely integrate melodies from their homeland into Instagram and Facebook stories, reels, and posts. The resolution stems from a collaborative effort between Meta and the Kazakhstan Authors’ Society, addressing copyright concerns that arose in late 2022.

This newly established accord, spanning a duration of two years, resolves lingering issues tied to licensing agreements. Previously, restrictions had been imposed on the use of Kazakh music within Meta’s platforms due to unresolved legalities. Thanks to the diligent work of both entities involved, all outstanding matters have been addressed, paving the way for renewed cultural expression online. Notably, the partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering creativity while safeguarding intellectual property rights.

Meta’s dedication to respecting artistic ownership signifies a positive step forward in global digital collaborations. By working hand-in-hand with national organizations, the company highlights its willingness to engage meaningfully with diverse cultures and industries. This alliance not only strengthens ties between technology firms and creative communities but also exemplifies how constructive dialogue can lead to mutually beneficial outcomes, promoting innovation and respect across borders.
