Unleashing Youthful Musical Talent in the Rockies
2025-04-22

In a vibrant celebration of young musicianship, the Conifer’s Got Talent event held on April 18 at Conifer High School brought together an impressive array of performers. Jointly organized with Evergreen’s Got Talent, this year's contest featured 32 musicians aged between 8 and 19. These talented individuals competed for spots in prestigious summer music festivals within the Evergreen area. The judges were captivated by the performances, leading to the selection of ten acts that will grace various festival stages throughout the summer.

A Night of Exceptional Performances

In the heart of spring, Conifer High School became a hub of creativity as it hosted the annual talent showcase. This event merged two longstanding traditions—Conifer’s Got Talent and Evergreen’s Got Talent—to form an even grander platform for emerging artists. Co-organizer Pam Lindquist expressed her admiration for the extraordinary level of skill demonstrated by the participants, emphasizing that the judges had their work cut out due to the high quality of performances. Among those selected for summer engagements are Fiona Matschullat, Ari Wageman, and Cole & Cody Hunt, among others, who will perform at events like the EPRD Summer Concert Series and the Center for the Arts Evergreen Summerfest.

This remarkable evening also marks the continuation of a legacy initiated by the National Charity League, re-envisioned by Schaunon Winter in 2012, and revitalized post-pandemic by Andy Potter alongside Pam Lindquist. With generous backing from sponsors, winning performers now receive paid opportunities to shine at regional mountain festivals. Looking ahead, plans are underway to rename the competition "Mountain’s Got Talent" by 2026, aiming to incorporate more local high schools into its fold.

From a journalist's perspective, this event underscores not only the immense potential of youth but also the importance of community support in nurturing artistic growth. It serves as a reminder that fostering such platforms can inspire future generations to pursue their passions confidently while contributing significantly to cultural enrichment within our communities.
