2024-11-27
Thanksgiving isn't just about family and gratitude; for many, it's a time to indulge in the comfort of TV shows and movies. From classic reruns to new releases, there's something for everyone during this long holiday weekend. Let's dive into the world of entertainment that awaits.

Embrace the Couch Potato Spirit with Thanksgiving TV and Movies

Gossip Girl's Thanksgiving Episodes

Gossip Girl truly knows how to celebrate Thanksgiving. Re-watching its seven Thanksgiving-themed episodes has become a must during this time of the year. Who would have thought that Jason Derulo's "Whatcha Say" would become a Turkey Day anthem? You can easily stream Gossip Girl on Netflix and Max, immersing yourself in the scandalous world of the teen series.

The drama, the fashion, and the holiday spirit combine to make these episodes a true delight. It's a great way to unwind and forget about work for a while.

Our Little Secret

Lindsay Lohan's new Netflix Christmas movie may raise some eyebrows with its cheesy and potentially AI-generated aspects. But when it drops on Nov. 27, we'll be tuning in just like we did for Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish. Kristin Chenoweth's star power adds an extra layer of excitement.

After our recent re-obsession with all things Wicked, we'll be following wherever Kristin's bubble floats. It's a fun and light-hearted watch that's perfect for the holiday season.

Somebody Somewhere

This show is a true gem, making us laugh and cry at the same time. With only two episodes left in its third and final season, the penultimate episode dropping on Dec. 1 on HBO and Max is a must-see. The wholesome vibes about found family are crafted just for Thanksgiving.

Over some microwaved turkey and mashed potatoes, we'll be getting lost in the story and experiencing all the emotions that this show has to offer.

Gilmore Girls' Most Iconic Thanksgiving Episode

Fall means it's time for our annual Gilmore Girls rewatch, and the holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity. Season 3, Episode 9: "A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving" is a highlight. Watching Lorelai and Rory run around to four different Thanksgivings is a great stress-reliever.

Each year, we're reminded of the hilarity and chaos that comes with the holiday. And let's not forget the cautionary tale about deep-frying a turkey – sorry, Jackson!

Queer

This year, we'll be giving thanks for Luca Guadagnino's gay-ass movies. Queer is releasing in theaters on Nov. 27, bringing the whole family together. While it may not be the most family-friendly choice, the R-rated romance between Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey is sure to be a hit.

Sitting in the theater and watching these two hook up in 4K is an experience like no other.

Bad Sisters Season 2

The first season of Bad Sisters was a delight, and now that the second season has been released, we're excited to marathon it. Watching four very different sisters come together to exact revenge is both satisfying and thrilling.

We have no idea where Season 2 will go, which only adds to the excitement. It's a must-watch for fans of the show.

A Man on the Inside

Mike Schur is a master of creating beloved sitcoms, and his new Netflix series A Man on the Inside is no exception. Re-teaming with his The Good Place star Ted Danson, this espionage comedy is a must-see.

All eight episodes were released on Nov. 21, and now we finally have the time to gobble them up. It's another great addition to Schur's impressive portfolio.

St. Denis Medical

We recently discovered this great medical comedy, St. Denis Medical, which premiered in November. After tearing through the first three episodes on Peacock, we're eagerly awaiting the next weekly release over the holidays.

It shares a lot of DNA with Superstore and shines a light on the comedic talents of Kaliko Kauahi. It's a fun and light-hearted show that's perfect for the holiday season.

Abbott Elementary

Abbott Elementary has been a firm favorite since it premiered in 2021. We're planning to tune in for the hourlong holiday special coming up on Dec. 4 and will also be re-watching old favorite episodes and catching up on Season 4 on Hulu.

It's a heartwarming show that never fails to put a smile on our faces.

Happy Endings Rewatch

Happy Endings is an under-appreciated sitcom that can hold its own against 30 Rock. Its Thanksgiving episode, "More Like Stanksgiving" (Season 3, Episode 4), may not be all about the holiday, but it's still a must-revisit each year.

The zany jokes and absurdist humor make it a standout. If you're a fan of sitcoms, you won't want to miss this one. It's streaming on Hulu.
