2024-12-05
Paul Robinson, the executive vp/general counsel of Warner Music Group, is set to receive significant recognition. On Friday, Jan. 31, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, the Recording Academy Entertainment Law Initiative (ELI) will host its annual Grammy Week luncheon. This event marks a moment of pride and celebration for Robinson as he is set to receive the 2025 ELI Service Award.

Highlighting His Contributions

As part of its mission, the Recording Academy is dedicated to advocating for creators. The Entertainment Law Initiative plays a crucial role in advancing this by providing legal representation, celebrating the achievements of entertainment law practitioners, and offering year-round educational opportunities to nurture future leaders in the field. Paul Robinson embodies these values, having spent three decades at Warner Music Group. During this time, he has been a staunch advocate for fair practices and has guided the industry through transformative changes.

Robinson's Journey at Warner Music Group

In January 1995, Robinson joined Warner Music Group's legal department as associate general counsel. His dedication and expertise led to his appointment as the executive vp/general counsel in December 2006. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the worldwide legal, business affairs, public policy, compliance, and corporate governance functions of WMG. Before joining WMG, he was a partner at the prestigious Mayer, Katz, Baker, Leibowitz & Roberts law firm in New York City.

The Entertainment Law Initiative

Established by the Recording Academy, the Entertainment Law Initiative aims to foster in-depth discussions on the legal issues that are shaping the music industry. Each year, the recipient of the Service Award is carefully selected by the ELI's executive committee. This luncheon not only honors the winner but also recognizes the runners-up of the Entertainment Law Initiative writing competition.
