Will Lainey Wilson and Duck Hodges Tie the Knot in 2025?
2025-01-02
In a recent interview, country music star Lainey Wilson playfully addressed her relationship with former NFL quarterback Devlin "Duck" Hodges. Speculation has been mounting about the possibility of a wedding between the couple in the near future. Bunnie Xo, wife of Jelly Roll, suggested during an interview that she was “manifesting” a 2025 wedding for the pair. Wilson responded with humor, saying, “No pressure, brother!” while looking into the camera.

Is a Wedding on the Horizon?

The couple has maintained a relatively low profile regarding their personal lives, but Wilson’s candid comments have sparked interest. In an August interview with “Taste of Country Nights,” Wilson discussed marriage in relation to her song “Counting Chickens.” The lyrics hint at impatience: “Far as I know, you ain’t bought a diamond / You ain’t sat my Deddy down and asked if it’s alright / I don’t mean to jump the gun on perfect timing / But if you brought up Vegas I’d be on a plane tonight.”

Wilson clarified that the song wasn’t meant to put pressure on Hodges. Instead, she included a playful twist at the end: “One chicken, two chickens, three chickens — oh shoot, I think that’s a duck … that’s just for him.” According to Taste of Country, Hodges felt flattered by the song, appreciating the personal touch.

Timing Is Everything

When it comes to commitment, Wilson emphasized the importance of timing. She expressed a desire to experience the joy of engagement fully, rather than rushing through it. “I think it needs to be during a season of our life where we really have the time to enjoy it,” she explained. “Right now it would be like, ‘Oh shoot, I’m engaged. OK, onto the next thing.’ I just want to be able to really soak it in.”

Wilson also mentioned that their relationship began when Hodges was still playing with the Steelers. “We met at a time where he was still playing with them, but then it all changed,” she said. “So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions….” This whirlwind romance has evolved over time, adapting to the changes in both of their lives.

Hodges’ Football Journey

Devlin Hodges’ football career has taken several turns since he went undrafted out of Samford in 2019. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a free agent and made several starts for the team through 2020. After his stint with the Steelers, Hodges joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 and later played with the Ottawa Redblacks in the Canadian Football League. His NFL career concluded with 1,063 passing yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Despite the ups and downs of his football journey, Hodges has found stability in his relationship with Wilson. Their connection has endured through the challenges of public scrutiny and changing life circumstances. As they continue to navigate their personal and professional lives, fans eagerly await any updates on their romantic future.
