The results highlight not only the diversity of tastes but also common threads that tie these leaders together. From classic mob dramas to modern action films, the selections provide a glimpse into the minds of those who shape Wisconsin's business landscape. The survey findings offer an engaging look at how these leaders find inspiration and entertainment beyond the boardroom.

Timeless Classics: A Reflection of Leadership and Life Lessons

Many of Wisconsin’s business leaders gravitate toward films that have stood the test of time, often for their profound themes and compelling narratives. Titles like "The Godfather" and "Top Gun" emerged as popular choices, resonating with executives for different reasons. These films are seen as more than just entertainment; they serve as metaphors for leadership, resilience, and the complexities of human nature.

"The Godfather," in particular, was praised for its exploration of power dynamics and family loyalty. Leaders such as Kurt Gresens from WipFli, David Gruber from Gruber Law Offices, and John Kissinger from GRAEF found parallels between the film's narrative and the challenges of running a business. Jay Mack, CEO of Town Bank and Wintrust, noted that the movie offers valuable lessons on capitalism and the moral dilemmas faced by those in positions of authority. For Dr. Imran Andrabi, president and CEO of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, "Top Gun" evoked memories of his Air Force upbringing and a lifelong passion for aviation. Shari Black, CEO of Wisconsin State Fair Park, echoed this sentiment, adding both the original and the recent remake to her list of favorites.

Personal Connections: Cinema as a Mirror of Life Experiences

Beyond the classics, many business leaders chose films that held personal significance or reflected their unique life journeys. Movies like "Caddyshack," "Good Will Hunting," and "Forrest Gump" were singled out for their ability to connect deeply with individual experiences. These films often serve as a reminder of pivotal moments or values that have shaped their careers and personal lives.

Craig Culver, CEO of Culver Franchising, Mark Murphy, chairman, president, and CEO of the Green Bay Packers, and Kurt Bechthold, chairman and CEO of the Walbec Group, all selected "Caddyshack" for its humor and connection to golf. Jim Butman, president and CEO of TDS Telecommunications, and P.J. DiStefano, managing partner at Deloitte, chose "Good Will Hunting" for its portrayal of underdog triumphs and emotional depth. Tim Michels, co-owner of Michels Corp., and Dr. Scott Rathgaber, CEO of Emplify Health, found "Forrest Gump" particularly meaningful, with Michels appreciating its journey through a significant era of his life and Rathgaber valuing its message about destiny favoring the pure-hearted.
