Woman's 6-year Wedding Plans Hit by Head Injury 5 Days Before Ceremony
2024-12-03
In a rather unexpected turn of events, one woman's wedding week prep took an unexpected turn. Taylor Imus, who had been engaged to her longtime fiancé David Imus since 2016 and had been planning their wedding for six years, found herself facing a major challenge just five days before the big day.

From Unexpected Accident to Beautiful Wedding

Accident and Its Aftermath

Imus was playing co-ed slow-pitch softball, standing at second base, when a ground ball took a bad hop and hit her on the head. This unexpected incident knocked her out, and she had to be rushed to the ER. It was Monday evening, and her wedding was just five days away on Saturday. The shock and distress were palpable as she sobbed, realizing the implications for her big day. After the accident, she went straight to urgent care where she underwent an MRI and was referred to a concussion clinic. Some of her symptoms included headaches and random bruising all over her body. A follow-up appointment with her primary care doctor led to a referral to a neurologist. Through it all, her husband was by her side, working while she had to take a month off work. For the first two days after the injury, she was devastated, but then her spirits lifted as her family, friends, and coworkers rallied around her, making her feel beautiful.

Preparing for the Wedding with a Bruised Face

Leading up to the wedding, Imus had already hired an airbrush makeup artist to enhance her look. But with her face severely bruised after the accident, she knew the artist had a challenging task ahead. "It in fact was her hardest job, but she nailed it," Imus says. She was initially insecure about her face, but with the support of her loved ones, she felt confident and "rocked it" on her special day.

Sharing the Story and the Impact

After the wedding, Imus shared her story on Facebook and later posted a video on TikTok. The TikTok video went viral, with an astonishing 3.5 million views and over 1,000 comments. Reading through the comments, she was overwhelmed by the positive responses. One comment read, "Okay, but so many women give up their sports and interests. I’m kind of loving that an upcoming wedding didn’t stop you from having fun!" Another person responded, "Oh man, that’s painful—physically and emotionally, especially with such a big day ahead. The good news is, he’s loved you through it all for 13 years and will still totally think you’re the most beautiful person in the world on your special day. Congrats!"Imus loved sharing the story with others and said, "Beauty is pain!" Although her wedding day is now over, she has one important piece of advice for future brides: "Always wear a face mask when playing contact sports."
